OEM Factory Service Manuals
OEM Original Factory Service Manuals & Factory Workshop Helm Manuals for Auto, Truck, Van, SUV & Hybrid
OEM Factory Service Manuals are published by the original equipment manufacturer of the vehicle. These are the same manuals the dealerships use to do factory repair work. These manuals are available in book & CD/DVD-ROM/USB format and as online subscriptions. eAutoRepair is an online subscription available for one week, one month, one year or four years. eAutoRepair is published by Mitchell1. Information contained within eAutoRepair is based upon factory service information. Up to 75% off typical factory service manual repair information on every system in the vehicle including, engine, transmission / transaxle, axle / differential, steering, suspension, electronic control systems, wiring diagrams, fuel system, HVAC, radio/communications/navigation, brakes, airbags, body assembly, interior assembly, lighting systems, glass systems, windshield wiper, cooling system & 2wd/4wd control. Next we will discuss the types of service manuals published by other OEM companies.
Some vehicle manufacturers, such as Chrysler, LLC (manufacturer of Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, Dodge, Jeep and former distributor of Mitsubishi) publish multiple auto repair manuals for each vehicle, each year. For example, a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Factory Service Manual will have the following components: a factory service manual that includes wiring diagrams, a powertrain diagnostic manual, a transmission diagnostic manual, a body diagnostic manual, a chassis diagnostic manual, and a automatic temperature control diagnostic manual. In general, this group of manuals is used to diagnose, repair and rebuild a particular year, make and model Chrysler vehicle.
Up to 75% Off General Motors factory service manuals, owners manuals, and OEM training information through a company named Helm, Inc. The vehicle brands manufacturered by GM include: Buick, Cadillac, GMC, Chevrolet, Geo, Hummer, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn. In general, GM publishes the following factory service manuals for its vehicles: Factory Service Manual or Workshop Manual, Wiring Diagrams Manual, Unit Repair Manual, Transmission / Transaxle Unit Repair Manual, Electrical Diagnostics Manual, Emissions Control Manual, Bi-Fuel Service Manual Supplement, On-Star Installation Manual, Convertible Service Manual, Radio Service Manual and Alternative Fuel Supplement. For example the 2011 GMC Sierra / Chevrolet Silverado Factory Service Manual is an 8 volume set and is packed in its own sealed box as a case of books. The GMC and Chevrolet full size pick-up trucks had the most extensive factory service manual due to the large range of engines, transmissions, suspensions, body styles, 2wd / 4wd / Awd options and electronic components. The FSM (Factory Service Manual) of most of the GM car lines can be contained in one or two volumes the size of large telephone books. For example the Chevrolet Corvette FSM is repair information is contained in two large manuals and sometimes an extra supplement manual.
Ford Motor Company produces factory service manuals through Helm, Inc. also. The Ford manuals available for vehicle repair and diagnosis are broken into the following types: factory Workshop Manual, Wiring Diagram Manual, Electrical Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM), Powertrain Control Emissions Diagnostics Manual, Pre-delivery & Maintenance Manual, Specifications Manual, CNG Supplement Manual and other supplement manuals. Ford Motor Company has owned and manufacturered vehicles under many different nameplates, they brands Ford owns or owned are: Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Mercur, Edsel, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Mazda, Land Rover, Volvo & Fordson Tractor. Ford stopped producing paper versios of its factory service manuals in 2013. Now the FSM is available as a CD-ROM or through the internet as an Online Subscription.
Other companies that publish and distribute OEM manuals through Helms, Inc. are American Honda (Honda Repair Manual), Toyota (Totota repair Manual), Hyundai (Hyundai Repair Manual), Izuzu (Isuzu Repair Manual), Jaguar (Jaguar Repair Manual), Mitsubishi (Mitsubishi Repair Manual) & UD Trucks (UD Trucks Repair Manual). Jaguar for example, does not sell Factory Service Manuals to the general public. Helms only sells Jaguar warrantee & training information. The only way to buy Jaguar factory repair information for newer Jaguars is through the eAutoRepair Online Subscription we sell on our website. Jaguar may have it own subscription available, but we are not aware of it.
The European manufacturers Mercedes Benz (Mercedes Repair Manual), BMW (BMW Repair Manual), Audi (Audi Repair Manual), Volkswagen (VW Repair Manual), Porsche (Porsche Repair Manual), Land Rover (Land Rover Repair Manual), Range Rover Range Rover Repair Manual), Rolls Royce (Rolls Royce Repair Manual), Saab (Saab Service Manual) & Volvo (Volvo Service Manual), did produce factory service manuals years ago. Now, much of the factory information is only available as an eAutorepair subscription, or as a subscription from the manufacturer. The only exception to this rule of not publishing factory repair manuals is Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes does offer Factory Repair Manuals on CD-ROM for certian models up to about 2009. We sell these factory Mercedes Repair CD-ROMs on our website under the "Factory Mercedes" manual section.
The remaining Asian manufacturers Acura (Acura Repair Manual), Kia (Kia Repair Manual), Lexus (Lexus Repair Manual), Nissan (Nissan Repair Manual), Subaru (Subaru Repair Manual), Suzuki (Suzuki Repair Manual) generally do offer printed manuals for sale. We do sell some of these manuals on this website. However, the Asian manufacturers generally charge excessive prices for the service manuals, so they are difficult to find used because so few have ever been purchase. To buy a typical late model Toyota Factory Service Manual set for one year, make and model will cost over $1000 new.
The amount of repair information required to repair modern vehicles as skyrocketed in recent years. This increase is attributed to the increase in electronic features such as heated windshields, back up cameras, collision avoidance detection systems, electric steering systems, automatic park assist, etc. The layer of electronic features on a vehicle grows every year. This means the factory service manual is more and more complex and the diagnosis of a particular problem requires more special tools and advanced repair information. Some of the special electronic tools required to diagnose a vehicle today are the obd-i / obd-ii diagnostic scan tool, oscilloscope, multifunction multimeter, tpms (tire pressure monitor system) reset tool, key programming tool and J2534 ECU calibration re-flash tool.
